Even though the event is cancelled due to weather, the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA)’s Paws in the Park Silent Auction is still OPEN. Bid on amazing items to show support for the AWLA’s incredible work on behalf of pets, people and the community. Bid here! Bidding is open until Sunday, October 19 at 3:30 p.m. EST.

Paws in the Park is a FREE, fun-filled day for the whole family (including pets), featuring entertainment and live music, activities, animal-themed vendors and adoptable animals! Paws in the Park celebrates the love our community has for animals, with a whole lot of fun on the side. Thousands have enjoyed this event in its previous iterations, and this year promises to be the biggest and most exciting festival yet.

Proceeds from this event benefit animals across the community through the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

The team at Port City is transforming their outdoor space into a dog-friendly fall festival, complete with local pet-themed vendors, animal organizations, a dog agility course, and even the chance to meet some adorable adoptable pups looking for their fur-ever homes.

This event is free and open to all, so bring your friends (two- and four-legged alike)! Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome — but please leave the retractable leashes at home.

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria will have adoptable furry friends onsite looking for a new home and event goers can pick out a book and participate in Old Town Books’ Book Buddies program by reading to an animal.

Additionally, author and dog trainer Kathy Callahan will be there signing copies of her book, Welcoming Your Puppy from Planet Dog. Plus, she’ll be helping dog owners with training tips for anyone struggling with their pups.
